The Oromocto Food Bank is in need of school supplies to assist children in need returning to school this fall. School supplies for Kindergarten through High School are needed, and can be dropped off in the Food Bank bins located at the Oromocto Sobeys, Superstore, and Giant Tiger. Donations are also welcome at the Oromocto Food Bank, located at 74 Iroquois Ave.

BACK TO SCHOOL FOR ECOLE SAINTE-ANNE WILL BE AS FOLLOWS:

ON TUESDAY, SEPT. 7TH, 2010 ONLY GRADE 6 AND GRADE 9 WILL ATTEND SCHOOL. SCHOOL ADMINISTRATION ASKS THAT STUDENTS BE ACCOMPANIED BY AT LEAST ONE PARENT. STUDENTS AND PARENTS WILL BE GREETED BETWEEN 8:30 AND 9:15, AND A MEETING WILL FOLLOW AT THE AMPHITHEATRE AT 9:15.

ON WEDNESDAY, SEPT. 8TH, 2010 ALL STUDENTS FROM GRADE 6 TO GRADE 12 WILL ATTEND SCHOOL. THIS WILL BE THE FIRST SCHOOL DAY FOR STUDENTS FROM GRADES 7, 8, 10, 11, AND 12.

FINE CRAFTS FESTIVAL

Friday 12-7, Saturday 10-6, & Sunday 11-5. There will be a rain call made by festival organizers by 9am on Saturday morning which will update as to whether there is a rain cancellation for the day, a rain delay/new start time, or opening as usual. September 4

RACE AGAINST THE REDS - Fundraiser for UNB Varsity Reds Cross-Country team. Kids 1km starts at 9:30am then the 5km starts at 10:00am. This event will be held in Odell Park. The cost is $20 (All profits go to UNB Cross Country) Race day registration 8am-9:30am in the upper Odelle Park lodge. KIDS RACE IS FREE!! For more information go to www.runnb.ca.

The Calithumpians will be leaving Officer's Swuare to perform in Wilmont Park at a party thrown by the NB Labour Council. There will be free face painting, a barbecue and much more! Golden opportunities, a show about superheroes will be performed at 12pm, while Little Hall of Heroes, a show about the NB Sports Hall of Fame will be performed at 2:15pm. Come out for an afternoon of family fun!!!

New Maryland Sea Cadets will be having a registration extravaganza from 6pm-8pm at the New Maryland Elementary School. New Members Welcome!!! If you cannot make it in on the 8th then stop by one of the parades every Monday night from 6pm-9pm. This is for children ages 12-18. This program is aimed at developing young leaders in your community and physical fitness. Enjoy new friends, great opportunities and memories to last a life time. The opportunities will amaze you! Covey's Office Furniture Registry in support of the Royal Canadian Legion Br 93 Oromocto. Covey's will set up some furniture and other items needed by the legion @ Hazen park center. A person or business may purchase an item for the legion. The event is held from 1-4pm.

OPH (Oromocto Public Hospital) Foundation Annual Golf Tournament. To be held at Gage Golf Club. 4 man scramble tee off @ 1pm. $60/person which includes a steak BBQ. Money raised will go towards a new BRONCHOSCOPE which is a piece of equipment that will  enhance the services provided by the Oromocto Public Hospital. This piece of equipment is used to find causes of lung problems and may detect cance, signs of infection, excess mucus in the airways, the site of bleeding, something blocking the airway.

2nd Annual Vintage In the Village. Step back in time and enjoy a historical wine-tasting walk through the Village of Gagetown. Stop and savour the history at 7 venues along the close-knit streets of the Village, while treating the palate to a wonderful selection of wines and appetizers. Get active and support a great cause during a boot camp fundraiser hosted by Clarenda Price, a certified personal trainer and fitness instructor, from 10-11:15am @ Carleton Park (Northside Green). Raindate is set for September 18. There will be five stations spread out over the green, with four cardio and core/strength moves at each station. The cost is $15 to participate, with all funds raised going to support the Hearts Abound Boot Camp Missions Trip, a group of local women that are going to San Pedra De Macoris, Dominican Republic. If you are 19 years of age or over, have left NB in the past year to work in the oil industry in Northern Alberta and have returned to NB at least once during this time, and are able to speak English you can participate voluntarily and confidentially.
